COLUMBUS, Ohio —

A 3-year-old child has died after a shooting in Columbus, Ohio Monday.

It happened just after 9 a.m. when officers responded to an apartment complex in the city's southeast side. Advertisement

Police say the young boy was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say the investigation into the shooting is ongoing as they work to determine if the child shot himself or if someone else shot him.
