MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The deadline is approaching for McDowell County residents to document damage to stream banks resulting from Tropical Storm Helene.

The McDowell County Soil and Water team said this information will be reviewed for eligibility for the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program, which assists landowners with repairs for stream bank damage that threatens the safety of their property following a natural disaster.

The McDowell County Emergency Services said this information will be used to assist in collecting consolidated impact information and will be provided to other State and Federal agencies as they assess the damage.

The EWP application deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 30.
