Filip Chytil passed a significant test for peace of mind and body Sunday in Seattle.
It had nothing to do with how the big Vancouver Canucks ’ centre played at pace, drove the neutral zone and created scoring chances. It had everything to do with absorbing a heavy reverse shoulder hit from former New York Rangers linemate Kaapo Kakko just one minute into a pre-season test against the Kraken.
Chytil was on an end-boards forecheck, and when the puck was rimmed to Kakko in the corner boards, he was in pursuit from behind. Chytil was then levelled with an impact to the head and whiplash as they sprawled to the ice.
