CONEJOS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - The Conejos County Coroner has confirmed the cause of death for two out-of-state hunters in southern Colorado.
The coroner confirmed Monday that the two missing hunters, Andrew Porter, a 25-year-old man from Asheville, N.C., and Ian Stasko, a 25-year-old man from Salt Lake City, UT, were struck by lightning.
A ‘massive’ search began September 13 at the Rio De Los Pinos Trailhead after the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said Porter and Stasko failed to check in with their loved ones.
The sheriff’s office said Porter and Stasko were reported overdue while elk hunting in the San Juan Wilderness Area, west of Trujillo Meadows Reservoir.
