A 14-year-old crashed a stolen automobile while fleeing from officers over the weekend, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

On the evening of Sept. 21, a used car dealership near the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood reported a vehicle stolen from its lot. A police report described the vehicle as a 2018 Dodge Durango.

Police caught sight of the missing SUV after 9 p.m. near the intersection of North Arlington Avenue and East 43rd Street, about 5 miles from the dealership.

The driver failed to stop and police gave chase. The pursuit ended after just over 3 miles when the stolen SUV struck an uninvolved vehicle near the intersection of North Arlington Avenue and Village Plaza North Drive.
