Elmira, NY (WETM) — The paving of Church and Water Streets have been affecting people coming off interstate 86, and City Manager Mike Collins hopes it's done soon.
Collins said he's happy with how much work the crews have been able to get done so far.
"Milling and paving makes the city nice and clean. It makes it safe for passengers," Collins said. "We have the money to do this, and it's the roads to enter and exit our community."
People in Elmira have called it inconvenient, and wish the city only did one at a time. But they also just want it to get done quick.
Collins added he felt it was necessary for both roads to get fixed now, and said it will be done this season, and hopes it's before the first snowfall.
