HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - The ACLU of Indiana filed a lawsuit against the president of Ball State University, saying he violated an employee's free speech rights by firing her over a private Facebook post about the death of Charlie Kirk.
In the post, the employee reportedly called Kirk's death a tragedy, but said it also reflected the "hatred, fear and violence he sowed". The employee also stated that Kirk's killing was not justified.
In the lawsuit, the ACLU claims the president of the university fired the employee in a meeting, without letting her bring a lawyer, and that her Facebook post was the only reason given.
Eyewitness News has reached out to Ball State University for comment, and we are waiting to hear back.
