LANSDOWNE — The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands is mourning the passing of Velma Marlene Kelsey, a former Ward 2 councillor and long-time community advocate, who died peacefully at Brockville General Hospital on Sept. 18, at age 86.
Kelsey, of Lyndhurst, was remembered for her dedication to municipal leadership and local organizations, as well as her generosity of spirit.

“We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew her,” township officials said Friday.
Current Ward 2 Coun. Angela Kelman described Kelsey as “a pillar of Lyndhurst, the heart of Camp Hyanto and part of my church family… plus she made the most deliciously decadent rice krispie squares I will ever eat.”
