EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An off-duty Cuyahoga County Special Deputy shot a juvenile after the portable restroom the deputy was in was tipped over by another person or persons on Monday afternoon, according to Jennifer Ciaccia, press secretary for Cuyahoga County.

When the deputy got out of the porta-potty, he encountered multiple people, one of whom he reported was pulling a gun from his waistband. The deputy fired his weapon, and the individuals fled the scene in a vehicle.

The deputy was not hurt.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 133rd Street in East Cleveland.

The special deputy was working secondary employment in the area.
