LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A man is set to go to trial nearly four years after he allegedly shot a construction worker and a LMPD sergeant.
Keyshaun Stewart faced a judge on Monday for the final time before heading to trial. He is accused of fatally shooting Fred O'Bannon and injuring LMPD Sgt. Chris Lane in 2021, as they were working on the Watterson Expressway.
Police said O'Bannon was sitting in his work truck around 2:30 am on Nov. 19, when Stewart allegedly approached the truck and shot him.
Police said Stewart then turned the gun on Lane, shooting him in the face. Lane was able to chase Stewart down and shot him twice. Stewart was then taken into custody.
Stewart now faces several charges, including murder and attempted murder of a police officer.
