HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Primer Microschools has opened its first campus in Alabama, bringing its "small, personalized" learning model to Huntsville.
The new Primer microschool at 4217 9th Ave. in Huntsville will serve kindergarten through eighth grade and features mixed-age classrooms organized into K–2, 3–5, and 6–8 groups.
Primer said that it emphasizes core subjects such as math and reading, while also offering daily “Passion Pursuits,” which allow students to explore personal interests ranging from coding and podcasting to baking and graphic design.
The Huntsville campus is led by educators Monique Bridges, formerly a campus leader at Primer’s Liberty City microschool in Miami, and Jonathan Carter, a longtime teacher in Huntsville.
