FOSTER, R.I. (WLNE) — Veterans, their families, volunteers and supporters showed up at the Dare to Dream Ranch on Sept. 20 for the 4th Annual Yellow Ribbon Gala.
The ranch offers no cost treatment for veterans with PTSD and utilizes a holistic approach to treating anxiety and depression.
The annual gala raises money to make sure more Rhode Island vets and their families can be treated.
Equine therapy, yoga, and service dogs are an integral part of the project.
Marine and Army veteran Mel Costa has her own service dog, Steamboat Willie, thanks to the ranch.
“He gives me peace, brings me down…he will wake up, come over to me, put his paws on me, lean up against me, so I have to hug him,” Costa said. “He knows things before I kinda realize.”
