GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - Bidding for phase one of the Barren River Riverfront Park is now open.

“This is a big step in making this project a reality. It’s a project the city’s been working on for years,” said Neighborhood and Community Services director Brent Childers.

Phase one begins with rebuilding the boat ramp. As well as build what Childers calls the ‘front porch’ of the park.

“...think of benches and swings and a small performance lawn, a rock garden, and just some initial elements,” explains Childers.

Childers wants the public to know that phase one is just the start, and it truly kickstarts the project.

Phase one also creates space for phase three, which includes the whitewater rafting park and will transform the river’s landscape.
