Prince Rupert residents can now receive greater access to emergency care.
On Sept. 19, the province announced that a bigger and better emergency department at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is now open. The $16.5-million modernized department will help improve patient care, as well as attract and retain health-care professionals to the region, according the Northern Health Authority.
Upgrades include a new main lobby and registration area, intended to improve patient flow, a larger trauma and triage area to provide a larger patient assessment and treatment area, and improved high acuity rooms that will provide better patient privacy and enhanced infection prevention control measures.
