Two friends were waiting at a stop sign on Blue Grass Boulevard in DeLand when a car came inches from hitting them.
“He came home very upset,” said Patrick Johnson, the father of one of the boys. “He’s usually a tough little boy, and he was just pale and flushed. I said, ‘What happened? What happened?’ He couldn’t speak right away, so we let him compose himself, and he said, ‘I almost got hit by a car.’”
Neighbors told WESH 2 News the area is known for reckless driving. Many of the cars that turn on this road cut the turn too sharply.
And that is exactly what Patrick and Bonnie Johnson say happened here.
Their 12-year-old son, Tristan, was able to react in a split second and may have saved his friend’s life.
