WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- D.C. police arrested an individual accused of stealing a moped from a teenager at gunpoint over the weekend.

The Metropolitan Police Department said that around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, the teenager was in the 4500 block of Quarles St. NE with their moped, which they had just bought.

The suspect stopped the victim and showed a weapon before taking the moped and escaping.

Responding officers got a description of the moped and found and arrested 19-year-old Markell Woodings of Southeast, D.C.

Woodings is charged with armed carjacking (gun)
