UCF offensive line coach Shawn Clark died unexpectedly Sunday, the school announced . He was 50 years old.

Clark had been admitted to the hospital on Sept. 9 after experiencing a medical emergency, the school said. He remained in stable condition for several days before he died with his wife by his side.

“Shawn was so much more than a coach. He was a remarkable man, husband, and father who cared deeply about his players and staff,” said UCF head coach Scott Frost in a statement. “The reaction of our players and coaches to the news this morning is a testament to Shawn’s character and the impact he had on every life that he touched.”
