CLARION, Pa. – Khalon Simmons rushed 14 times for 84 yards and four touchdowns to lead Clarion (4-0) to a 51-38 win over Shepherd (0-3) in football action at Clarion on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 7-0 lead when graduate student quarterback Michael Hardyway fired a 12-yard scoring strike to junior wide receiver Kordell Batten with 9:13 left in the first quarter. Sophomore kicker Max Barba added the extra point.
Clarion answered back with a 28-yard field goal by Andrew Kurtas with 5:31 left in the first quarter to cut the lead to 7-3.
Redshirt junior running back Jordan Barnett raced 96 yards for a score with 12:35 left in the second quarter to up the lead to 14-3.
Barba connected on a 38-yard field goal with 7:29 left in the second quarter to give the Rams a 17-3 advantage.
