PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- COVID-19 shots are now available without a prescription at pharmacies for almost anyone in Oregon and Washington. Children 6-and-under still need to go through their doctor's office.

But there are many questions whether insurance is required to pay for it this time. KOIN 6 News learned that in most cases, the state of Oregon is requiring health benefit plans to continue covering COVID-19 vaccines without cost-sharing -- that means it would not apply to your deductible. The state also said any changes at the federal level will not reduce your coverage.

But there are some exemptions.

They're not required to cover it if your company is self-insured or has certain limited benefits plans.
