An organization that promotes school choice intends to oppose a lawsuit challenging Idaho’s private school tax credit program.
EdChoice, which is based in Indianapolis, plans to file a motion to intervene following this week’s news that Idaho organizations are challenging House Bill 93.
Moscow School District is one of nine petitioners involved in the lawsuit to prohibit HB 93. The new law creates a tax credit program that uses nearly $50 million in state funds to help families pay for expenses at nonpublic schools. Parents can begin applying for the program in January.
The petitioners say the tax credit program violates the Idaho Constitution and hurts public schools. The Committee to Protect and Preserve the Idaho Constitution, the Idaho Education Association, Mormon Women for Ethical
