PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- While much of Central Illinois may be experiencing moderate drought conditions, according to Drought.com, it's not completely out of the ordinary.
Only about 10% of Illinois' crops have been harvested, according to Charlie Hensley, manager of the Peoria County Farm Bureau, and so there is still a lot of time left for farmers to gather their crops.
Even though the conditions in Peoria County are fairly dry, Hensley said this is not abnormal.
"The entire summer, really, we had excellent rain," he said. "We really had a great growing season, and the water just kind of shut off here in the past month or so. Right now, I don't think it's anything to be super worried about."
