The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested a man who is believed to be responsible for shooting and killing another man last month at an apartment complex on Lake Shore Boulevard.

According to police, Allen Washington, 25, is facing a murder charge due to his involvement in the death of Carlos Oyenarte, 36, who died on Aug. 19 following a shooting at the Oak Tree Apartments.

JSO said Washington was already in jail for an unrelated case when he was arrested for Oyenarte’s murder.

“We’ll work with our partners at the State Attorney’s Office to bring justice for Oyenarte’s loved ones,” the agency said.
