The Green High School senior's lead steadily grew throughout the afternoon at Tannenhauf. He was on his way to a round golfers dream of.

Suddenly, the skies opened. Rain fell for the first time in what felt like forever.

The timing couldn't have been worse.

Kirkpatrick's dream round and the entire tournament was washed away by weather on Monday, Sept. 22. He was sitting at 5-under through 10 holes. His lead had grown to five shots.
