Jurors failed to reach a verdict last week in the trial of Shamon Pacheco in the 2021 beating and shooting death of 29-year-old Raymond Ortiz, Jr.

Judge Lucy Solimon declared a mistrial on Friday after jurors split 10-2 in favor of convicting Pacheco, 34, on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and other charges, said Nancy Laflin, a spokeswoman for the 2nd Judicial District Attorney's Office.
