PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A 23-year-old Peoria man is charged with allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend to prove to his new girlfriend.
A Peoria County Judge ruled Monday that Jaquon Timothy will stay in jail until his trial on Aggravated Battery with a Firearm charges.
The shooting happened on Saturday, July 19th on West Starr Street.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney says when officers spoke with Timothy’s current girlfriend, he reported he had told her before the shooting he would do it, adding he told her afterwards that he committed the shooting.
A search warrant of his phone later revealed the text message claiming ownership of the shooting.
He was arrested on Thursday.
It is unclear when Timothy is due back in court.
