Sunday night’s severe weather that rocked parts of Denton County left one person dead and much debris across the city of Sanger.

The Sanger/Denton North KOA Journey at McClain RV campsite confirmed on Monday that one of its long-term campers died from the storm.

“Our deepest sympathies are with their family and loved ones during this difficult time. We are continuing to assess the impact of the storm and remain focused on supporting our campers, team members and neighbors. We are deeply grateful for the strength and care of the Sanger community,” said management in a statement.

Neighbors said they tried to help the woman inside, but she was severely injured. A neighbor said their spouse was with the woman in her final moments.
