MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Inspiring children, one book at a time. Some players from the Badger football team spent Monday morning reading to kids at Sandburg Elementary School.

During their visit, the players spent time reading books to second graders and talking about their love for reading.

Evan Brown, who is a Badger’s football player, said the experience is grounding.

“It’s always nice to inspire youth especially in a position where I can do that. I think it’s just a great experience coming here.”

UW Athletics has a partnership with the Madison Metropolitan School District, where student-athletes visit classrooms on a weekly basis.

The goal of the partnership is to create consistent opportunities for children to connect with role models and develop strong reading habits.
