Marking a significant milestone for its operations, the Dalton Police Department dedicated its new Property and Evidence facility on Monday, replacing an overcrowded space at the Police Services Center. The project, funded by the 2020 SPLOST, was marked with a symbolic ribbon cutting using crime scene tape.

The new building on Jones Street features more than 3,000 evidence bays, specialized ventilated storage for hazardous materials, lab space for processing, and a secure garage for examining vehicles.

Chief Cliff Cason thanked voters and officials for supporting the project, calling it a facility that will meet the department’s needs for the next decade. City leaders also praised KRH Architects, RW Smith Company, and Captain Barry Woods for bringing the project in on time.
