WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - The Northeast Iowa Food Bank said it’s seeing an increase in demand... something Executive Director Barbra Prather said she hopes renovations will help to fulfill.

The expansion will include a new loading dock, expanded freezer space, updated volunteer space and more.

“The pantry itself that operates on site is probably going to more than double in size, giving people more space to shop in, but also serving them with more integrity and more dignity,” said Prather.

Prather said they’ve seen a growing need in the community for not only the food pantry, but the food bank that helps distribute to other pantries as well.

She said this renovation will help them better serve families across 16 counties.
