SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson is set up for surgery this week, but could return to the field in the second half of the season.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Bears head coach Ben Johnson “confirmed that Johnson will have core muscle surgery and should be able to return this season.”
After missing week one of the season, Johnson made his season debut in week two against the Detroit Lions.
He went down in the first half with what was later diagnosed as a groin injury. Chicago placed him on the injured reserve prior to week three.
In his one game, Johnson finished with two solo tackles. In 20 snaps, he was targeted three times, had one pass breakup, and allowed one catch for 16 yards.
