Neftali Said Pérez González, the new Cónsul General of México in San José, is making his rounds and getting to know the community he serves after his recent appointment.

Pérez González is the youngest Cónsul General in San Jose in decades and aims to bring a youthful vision to office. He previously worked for a youth empowerment organization in Mexico until President Claudia Sheinbaum, a UC Berkeley grad, picked him to lead the San Jose consulate, which handles four counties.

“The most important thing is to be close to the people,” Pérez González said of what Sheinbaum asked of him and all consulates in the United States.
