TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Families in Tucson with disabled children are preparing for significant cuts to state-provided services. These changes, set to take effect on Oct. 1, are expected to have a profound impact on their lives.
Gov. Katie Hobbs announced reductions in services from the Division of Developmental Disabilities, which serves more than 60,000 Arizonans. The cuts will primarily affect attendant care hours for children under 18, leaving parents without crucial support.
"We saved the program from 50 percent cuts or even total elimination that the Republicans in the Legislature were proposing," said Hobbs.
