Grand Junction senior Hunter Simmons continued his hot play with a tie for first place at the Grand Junction Invitations on Monday at Bookcliff Country Club.

Simmons tied with Aspen senior Leo Roennau with both shooting two-under par 69.

Grand Junction and Aspen were also in a close battle for the team title, with there Skiers pulled out the team win with a seven-under 220, two strokes better than the Tigers.

Fruita Monument was third at 228.

Another pair of seniors — Fruita Monuments Collin Black and Montrose’s Brandon Blacker — both shot one-over 72 to tie for third.

Fruita senior Dax Martinez shot 74 to take sixth.

Zach Johnson of Fruita, and a pair of Grand Junction golfers — Bryce Campbell and Grayson Mathis tied for eighth at 76.
