HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Utilities says crews are working to fix a water main break that is causing water to run down Madison Boulevard.

According to a company spokesperson, Huntsville Utilities Water Operation crew responded to a report of a water main break on Monday afternoon in the area of Slaughter Road and Madison Boulevard.

Initial reports indicate a rupture in a 36-inch water main, but the cause has not yet been confirmed, the company said.

HU said the break is causing water to run down Madison Boulevard, and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

The utility company said they do not currently know how long the repairs will take.
