TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Arizona joins the growing list of states expanding COVID vaccine access against the FDA and CDC’s latest guidelines.

The Arizona Department of Health Services issued a standing order Friday that ensures access to the vaccine for everyone over the age of 6 months old. The order serves as a prescription, so pharmacists and health care providers can provide vaccines to anyone who requests one.

Dr. Richard Carmona, the ADHS’s Public Health Medical Advisor and 17th Surgeon General of the United States, said that a lot of people were confused after the FDA restricted access to the COVID vaccine.

“Almost everybody I talk to asks me about this, well, what’s happening?” he said.
