EXETER – Lake-Lehman’s Jackson Norconk played the two back-nine par-5s in 3-under Monday on his way to a 4-over-par, 75 to earn Class 2A boys medalist honors and post the best score out of more than 100 golfers competing in four divisions as the Wyoming Valley Conference conducted its qualifier for the District 2 Individual Golf Championships.
Norconk overcame two double-bogeys, including one at 6, the front nine’s only par-5.
“I had the two doubles, but I just stayed calm and worked through them,” Norconk said. “It all worked out.”
Norconk said staying calm was a big part of his thought process going into the event.
That was necessary on a day when Fox Hill Country Club’s difficult greens may have been even more challenging than usual with difficult pin placements.
“Really tough pins
