ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — This past weekend marked the end of an era in St. George as the Dixie Round-Up Rodeo was held for the final time at the historic Dixie Sunbowl.

There have been a lot of memories made at the venue, from watching Dixie High or Dixie college football back in 70s and 80s, taking in a concert or enjoying the rodeo. The arena has been part of St. George life for decades, but after nearly a century, it's now getting a fresh start.

The Dixie Sunbowl first broke ground the the 1930s and was finished in 1947, built with just $30,000 and a lot of community volunteer labor. Since then, it's become a fixture in the heart of St. George, but this year's rodeo was the last before a major transformation.
