WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Westerville City Schools leaders say the district could face cuts to teachers, programs and services if voters reject an earned income tax issue on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The Board of Education voted unanimously in July to place a 0.75% earned income tax levy on the ballot. If passed, it would generate approximately $24.3 million annually.
If it fails, the district will need to reduce general fund expenses by about $20 million annually.
District officials presented a list of proposed reductions that would impact many aspects of school operations, from academics to extracurriculars.
