MESA, Ariz. — A Mesa mother is speaking out for the first time after she and her two daughters were viciously attacked inside their apartment.

“We survived," Jackie Horne said. "We did that as a family."

In an exclusive interview with 12News, Jackie Horne detailed the attack in her apartment near Broadway and Dobson roads on Sept. 17.

The night of the attack

Jackie Horne said a loud noise woke her around 4 a.m. Wednesday. An intruder was attacking her 16-year-old daughter.

“I hear Layla start to yell, ‘Mom, mom, mom.’ And it’s getting more frantic,” Jackie Horne said.
