CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. — Central Elementary School in Currituck County, N.C., announced Monday that a student brought a knife to school.

Administrators received information on Monday about the student potentially possessing the knife, according to a letter sent to parents. They then discovered and confiscated the knife.

However, the letter emphasized, “there was no immediate threat to the safety of the school community, nor was the student communicating threats to use the knife at school.”

Disciplinary actions are being taken in accordance with district policies, the letter stated. Law enforcement has also been notified.

“District officials would like to thank those who took the appropriate steps to contact school administrators with their concerns,” the letter stated.
