EUGENE — No. 6 Oregon expects starting running back Noah Whittington to be back on the field for this week’s marquee matchup at No. 3 Penn State.

Whittington, who had 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first two games, has missed the past two games due to an unspecified injury. The sixth-year senior and linebacker Dylan Williams were among three players listed as questionable on UO’s player availability report last week and while they were each in full pads during pregame warmups, neither played.

That should change Saturday night (4:30 p.m., NBC) in Happy Valley.

“I think we’ll be able to have those guys with us,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. “We probably could have pushed it this past week.”
