Light-rail service is pausing for 12 days between Target Field and the Mall of America as maintenance work begins on the Blue Line.

Metro Transit buses will sub in for light-rail trains along the 11-mile line that started at 10 p.m. Monday and will continue through next Friday, Oct. 3, according to an alert from the agency.

During the shutdown, there won't be any light-rail service between Target Field and U.S. Bank Stadium, but Green Line trains will continue to operate at U.S. Bank Stadium station.

The replacement bus services will take considerably longer than the train, with Metro Transit estimating 81 minutes from the Mall of America to Target Field, and 76 minutes going southbound.

This compared to the 41 minutes northbound and 40 minutes southbound the light rail usually takes.
