SALT LAKE CITY – A man who investigators say falsely claimed to be Charlie Kirk’s shooter was charged with obstruction of justice.

George Zinn, 71, was charged with one count of obstruction of justice by the State of Utah in Fourth District Court.

According to court documents, Zinn was present on Sept. 10 when Kirk was shot on campus at Utah Valley University during an event hosted by Turning Point USA.

A detective with UVU’s police department was positioned approximately 15 feet behind Kirk, “but did not have an unobstructed view of the event,” court documents said.
