SPOKANE, Wash. — Small businesses face new retail sales taxes next month on advertising services and live presentations, with many considering price increases.
"One of the services it said is online education and in-person webinars and seminars which is how a lot of the beauty industry is doing education these days. I'm paying $1,000 or $1,500 for a class," said Megz White, owner of PNW Hair Co.
Spokane County businesses will pay an additional 9% sales tax on online advertisements.
"The advertising sales tax that's coming into play is going to affect everyone's business," said Erica Norris, owner of Talk Fast Social.
Some businesses are considering relocating to Idaho to avoid the taxes.
