TOLEDO, Ohio — The Trump administration is urging pregnant women to limit their use of Tylenol, citing studies that suggest, but do not prove, a possible link between the drug's active ingredient - acetaminophen - and autism.

President Donald Trump said Monday that his administration is “strongly recommending” mothers-to-be avoid the drug unless it is medically necessary, such as for treating high fever.

“They are strongly recommending that women limit Tylenol use during pregnancy unless medically necessary,” Trump said at a press conference. “That’s, for instance, in cases of extremely high fever. That you feel you can’t tough it out, you can’t do it.”
