MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced a big update to her operations budget for next year, adding $1 million to homeless services to help pay for 24/7 operations new men’s shelter on Madison’s northeast side.

Located at 1902 Bartillon Drive, this is the first “purpose-built shelter” in Madison, meaning it was built specifically to be a shelter and was not converted from a different type of space.

“We do need to have the operating funds and again that’s going to rely not just on the city but on our entire community,” said Rhodes-Conway.

Rhodes-Conway said that to keep the shelter open 24/7 it will cost $4M dollars in 2026.
