Three decades of waiting will finally come to an end this week when Nottingham Forest make their return to the European stage.

A club with such a rich history in Europe has been unable to test themselves on the continent for too long. But Reds fans are now looking forward to trips abroad and big nights under the lights at the City Ground this season.

Forest’s Europa League journey begins on Wednesday with a trip to Spain to face Real Betis (8pm kick-off). Newly-appointed head coach Ange Postecoglou is yet to register his first win with the club but knows what it takes to succeed in this particular competition, having lifted the trophy with Tottenham Hotspur last season.
