Gov. Mike DeWine recently called on Ohio colleges and universities to do more to keep young people from leaving the state, telling them, “ We’ve got to keep more talent. ” When it comes to doing more for young people, Mr. DeWine needs to talk to his Republican colleagues running our state’s government.

Republicans have controlled the Ohio House, Senate, and governorship since 2011. Republicans have also long controlled the Ohio Supreme Court, whose justices include DeWine’s own son, Pat.

While DeWine tells universities to do more, state Republicans sabotage public education and undermine the will of the people at every turn. By pushing resegregation through school vouchers, attempting to defund public schools without proposing alternatives, disenfranchising voters with blatant gerryman
