MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio -- With youth leagues and high schools across Ohio facing a shortage of referees, Polaris Career Center is stepping in with a new program aimed at training the next generation of officials.
The adult education course, “Get in the Game: Basketball Officiating Masterclass,” begins Oct. 15 and will prepare participants to manage games with confidence and fairness.
The hybrid class follows a football officiating program Polaris hosted this summer.
“The demand for sports officials at every level and in every sport has never been higher,” said Doug Miller, director of marketing and community engagement at Polaris.
