AIEA, Hawaii (Island News) -- After routing Kaiser a week ago on the road, the Aiea varsity football team returned home Friday night hosting Kailua in a Division I prep matchup.
Stepping up defensively, the Surfriders wound up winning big 42-0. A starting offensive and defensive lineman were out with injuries for Aiea. The team also has a freshman starting, quarterback Caizel Jesus-Kapesi, who's had impressive outings in multiple games this season.
In a rainy battle with packed stands, between two of the region's most historic programs, Aiea entered Friday's matchup having lost its past two games against Kailua.
"The last two years we played tough at their house. They just bring so much physical play, we just try to match it," said Aiea Coach Mika Liilii, prior to gametime.
